The nervous input to the subcommissural organ (SCO) of the rat has been investigated with Falck-Hillarp fluorescence histochemistry and electron microscopical techniques. Previous fluorescence histochemical observations of a dense plexus of serotoninergic nerve fibres in relation to the basal SCO were confirmed.
