Exposure of Xenopus animal pole explants to transforming growth factor beta 2 (TGF-beta 2) induced the sequential expression of muscle nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (AChRs) isoforms and their corresponding mRNAs in cells which normally give rise to ectoderm.
