Organic-inorganic hybrids represent a new type of material showing promising properties. In this report, sequential dielectric transitions have been studied in an organic-inorganic hybrid halide, (N-2-AP)CuCl5·2H2O (N-2-AP = N-(2-ammoniumethyl)piperazinium) (1). The packing structure of 1 displays discrete [CuCl5]3- rectangular pyramids and N-2-AP cations, which are linked by two water molecules, forming infinite hydrogen bond networks with inorganic and organic components along the b-axis…

A new high-temperature, hybrid, phase-transition material, 1-methylpiperidinium tetrabromozincate, that shows a reversible transition at 345 K was synthesized and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses revealed that the origin of this transformation could be attributed to disordering of the bromine atoms in the anion and the nitrogen atom of the cation.
Characterization of the order-disorder dielectric transition in the hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite-like formate Mn(HCOO)(3)[(CH(3))(2)NH(2)].
TLDR
The origin of the dielectric transition is attributed to the dynamics of the DMA cations: above 190 K these cations can rotate inside the cubooctahedral cavity created by the [Mn(HCOO)(3)](-) framework, while for lower temperatures such rotation gets frozen, and their cooperative arrangement inside the cavities give rise to the observed dielectrics transition.
