The organizational pattern of hepatocytes in hyperplastic nodules, probable precursors of hepatocellular carcinoma, was examined sequentially at different stages in the carcinogenic process, and compared with the patterns in hepatocellular carcinomas, in developing liver and in regnerating liver.
