Transfer genes of the IncP plasmid RP4 are grouped in two separate regions, designated Tra1 and Tra2. Tra2 gene products are proposed to be mainly responsible for the formation of mating pairs in conjugating cells. To provide information relevant to understanding the function of Tra2 gene products, the nucleotide sequence of the entire RP4 Tra2 region is presented here.
