For the rapid and sensitive detection of p53 'hot spot' mutations, we combined polymerase chain reaction based single-strand conformational polymorphism (PCR-SSCP) analysis with sequence specific-clamping by peptide nucleic acids (PNAs) in a one-step reaction tube protocol.
