This paper presents a vision on the use of self-organisation methods (selfoptimisation, self-configuration, and selfhealing) as a promising concept to automate wireless access network planning, deployment and optimisation. The major intentions are to improve network coverage, resource utilisation and service quality, and to substantially reduce operational expenditure.
