The ever-growing complexity of information system demands that the system or its components to be built are self-managing. Self-management connotes that a computing system or its components are able to self-govern with no or very little interventions from the user. In effect, self-management means that it is capable of self-configuration, self-optimization, self-protection, and self-healing.
