A new detection scheme for catecholamines was constructed through embedding synthetic receptors within vesicles comprising phospholipids and polydiacetylene. Fluorescence emission of the polydiacetylene was induced through specific interactions between the soluble ligands and the vesicle-incorporated hosts. The system demonstrated remarkable selectivity among structurally similar ligands and achieved much lower detection thresholds compared to that of other reported catecholamine sensors. The…

Selective Binding of Dopamine and Epinephrine in Water by Molecularly Imprinted Fluorescent Receptors.
TLDR
A combination of covalent and noncovalent binding groups in the hydrophobic core of water-soluble nanoparticles enabled them to recognize dopamine and epinephrine with an association constant higher than previously reported.
Selective catecholamine recognition with NeuroSensor 521: a fluorescent sensor for the visualization of norepinephrine in fixed and live cells.
TLDR
The utility of the method was demonstrated by selectively labeling and imaging norepinephrine in secretory vesicles such that discrimination between nore Pinephrine- and epinephrine-enriched populations of chromaffin cells was observed.

TLDR
This tutorial review highlights the recent advances in bio- and chemo-sensors derived from polydiacetylenes and develops efficient sensory systems based on PDAs.

Label-free bacterial detection using polydiacetylene liposomes.
Polydiacetylene (PDA) liposomes were prepared to selectively capture target released from bacteria. Specific interplay between released-surfactin and PDA resulted in a conformal change in the
Colorimetric detection of aluminium ion based on conjugated polydiacetylene supramolecules
Owing to their intriguing structural and optical properties, conjugated polydiacetylenes (PDAs) have received great attention from researchers. Unlike other conjugated polymers which require tedious
