Abstract Recent experimental studies have raised concerns that Cu concentrations in quartz-hosted fluid inclusions from magmatic–hydrothermal ore deposits do not represent pristine concentrations in the trapped fluids, but are modified by post-entrapment diffusional exchange through the host quartz.
