The borate form of anion exchangers has been investigated for its utility in the field of estrogen analysis. The borate form of a weak (DEAE-Sephadex A-25) and a strong (QAE-Sephadex A-25) anion exchanger was easily prepared by appropriate washing of the gels, without the need of time consuming immobilization techniques. Estrogens with vicinal cis-hydroxyls were strongly retained in both gels through formation of borate complexes and readily separated from estrogens not possessing such groups… Expand

5. Analytical methods: physiochemical assays. Use of ion exchange chromatography in steroid analysis.
TLDR
The high capacity and flexibility of IXC has made it a technique of choice in the purification of biological samples for the multicomponent analysis of steroids by GC or GC-MS during the last decade. Expand
The multicomponent analysis of estrogens in urine by ion exchange chromatography and GC-MS--I. Quantitation of estrogens after initial hydrolysis of conjugates.
TLDR
A method for the multicomponent analysis of estrogens in urine after initial hydrolysis of the conjugates is described, which allows the quantitation of all the important estrogen metabolites including catechol estrogens. Expand
Determination of estradiol 2- and 16 alpha-hydroxylase activities in rat liver microsomes using high-performance liquid chromatography.
We have developed a sensitive and nonradiometric assay of estradiol 2- and 16 alpha-hydroxylase activities using reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography with voltametric detector. The 2-Expand

A review is given of the extraction and purification of biological samples by filtration through lipophilic neutral and ion-exchange dextran gels and their derivatives and the applications of Sephadex and Lipidex gels. Expand
Estrogen 2-, 4-, 6- or 16-hydroxylation by human follicles shown by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry associated with stable isotope dilution.
TLDR
The results confirm the presence in the human follicle of various competing estrogen hydroxylases and catechol-O-methyltransferase and suggest that the latter three compounds and the 6-hydroxy-estradiols may be end-products of follicular estrogen metabolism. Expand

Synthesis of N-acetylcysteine conjugates of catechol estrogens
TLDR
The synthesis of N-acetylcysteine conjugates of 2-hydroxyestrone (2-OHE1) and 4-Hydroxyestrones (4-OHe1) is described and their structures were characterized by inspection of NMR spectra, chemical derivatization (methylation and acetylation), and comparison with the reactivity of 4-bromoestrone 2,3-quinone or 2,4-quin one.
