This study aimed at the selection of salt tolerant somaclones from four Bangladeshi indica rice genotypes through in vitro and ex vitro NaCl stress applied through step wise and non-step wise methods. Callogenesis was initiated under four different levels of non-step wise NaCl stress (50, 100, 150 and 200 mM) and subsequent plant regeneration was observed under same levels of NaCl stress. Among the four genotypes Binnatoa and IR51491-AC5-4 produced fertile somatic embryos with relatively high…
In vitro screening for salt tolerance in rice (Oryza sativa).
TLDR
It was concluded that somaclones obtained form the varieties of Pokkali, CSR 10 and TRY(R) 2 could be evaluated further in the natural field condition to develop a high yielding salt tolerant varieties or could be used as a donor for the development of salt tolerance varieties.
Growth and regeneration of rice (Oryza sativa L.) callus in salt medium.
Effect of NaCl on the growth of rice callus depends on the concentration of NaCl and variety. Lethal concentration is one factor that shows the level of sensitivity of cells (callus) of the poison
Gamma Irradiation and NaCl Treatment on the Embryonic Callus of Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Cultivar Kuliyadichan and CO 43 for Salt Tolerance
Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is an important staple food for more than half of the world’s population. It serves 20% of the calories to the human diet. World human population is increasing day by day and
Effect of growth regulators on callus induction in Rice embryo culture
TLDR
Analysis of variation showed that the genotype and medium are significantly different from each other and the interaction between Genotype X Medium also highly significant and the effect of growth regulators on callus induction in rice embryo culture.
