we propose a system to separates singing voice from music accompaniment for monaural recordings to improve the performance of singer identification. Our system consists of two stages. The first stage implements the non-negative matrix partial co-factorization (NMPCF), to separate the mixture signal into singing voice portion and accompaniment portion.
