The seasonal variation in the carbon content of the calanoid copepod Acartia bifilosa was studied in the northern Baltic Sea. Monthly length-weight relationships were followed from November 1990 to October 1991 by analysing the organic carbon content of individuals, using a high temperature combustion method. The monthly length (L) on carbon (C) regressions of copepodites were best described by power functions (C = aLb), where 75% to 88% of the variation could be explained by length.
