Experimental studies show that vitamin D derivatives are potent anticarcinogenic factors. Epidemiological observations support this, and vitamin D sufficiency has been hypothesised to be an important risk-reducing factor in several forms of cancer. Vitamin D level exhibits seasonal variations.
