Three Indonesian medicinal plants were investigated to elucidate their biologically active constituents. From the leaves of Scurrula fusca (Loranthaceae), a parasitic plant, was isolated a mixture (presumably a complex) of perseitol (a heptitol) and potassium ion which exhibited inhibitory activity on the incorporation of H-leucine to the Ehrlich ascites tumor cells in rat. Three benzochromenes and four isopimarane-type diterpenes isolated from the leaves of Orthosiphon aristatus (Lamiaceae…

Indonesian tea mistletoe (Scurrula oortiana) stem extract increases tumour cell sensitivity to tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNFα)

This study showed for the first time that water extracts of S. oortiana were significantly cytotoxic to the WEHI‐164 tumour cell line and increased tumours cell sensitivity to TNFα mediated lysis.

Effect of Colocynth Extract on Ileum Contraction in Mice

Isolated ileal strips of mouse were included in this study to investigate the effect of alcoholic extract of colocynth pulp Citrullus colocynthis and its seeds on their smooth يكاكلا حلاص ليعامسإ و

Water deficit stress responses of three native Australian ornamental herbaceous wildflower species for water-wise landscapes

Comparative growth and physiological responses to soil substrate drying of three herbaceous Australian ornamental species from habitats of variable moisture regimes were investigated in the context of isohydric and anisohydric behavior.

Relaxant effect of quinoline derivatives on histamine-induced contraction of the isolated guinea pig trachea

The results indicated that R. chalepensis extract and quinoline derivatives have anti-asthma activity.

Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of Orthosiphon aristatus and its bioactive compounds.

EEOA and its bioactive compound, ursolic acid, suppress LPS-induced NO and PGE(2) production by inhibiting ROS generation, along with reducing expression of iNOS and COX-2 in RAW 264.7 cells.
