The aim was to investigate the prevalence of Herpes simplex virus (HSV)‐2 infection among pregnant women in southern China and analyze the relationship between the HSV‐2 infection and pregnancy outcome. We examined 1740 sera collected from pregnant women aged 21–39 years, using enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay for the detection of specific antibodies against HSV‐2. The overall prevalence of HSV‐2 infection was 23.56% (95% confidence interval [CI] = 21.53–26.00). The prevalence of HSV‐2… Expand
ASSOCIATION BETWEEN HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS TYPE 2 (HSV 2) AND BAD OBSTETRIC OUTCOMES
TLDR
Significant association was found between HSV 2 seroprevalence and education levels, residence, smoking and animal exposure, and presence of pregnancy in women with HSV-2 latent infection was a risk factor for development of BOH. Expand
Seroprevalence of Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2 (HSV 2) in Women with Bad Obstetric History
TLDR
Significant association was found between HSV 2 seroprevalence and family size and education levels, and was statistically significantly higher in working men as co mpared to housewife. Expand

TLDR
Maternal HSV and HCMV infection during pregnancy increase the risk of spontaneous abortion, premature birth, and stillbirth. Expand
Infection status of human parvovirus B19, cytomegalovirus and herpes simplex Virus-1/2 in women with first-trimester spontaneous abortions in Chongqing, China
TLDR
The low rate of virus DNA and a high proportion ofCMV and HSV-1/2 IgG for most major of abortion patients in this study suggest that B19V, CMV andHSV- 1/2 may not be the common factor leading to the spontaneous abortion of early pregnancy. Expand
Prevention, recognition and management of neonatal HSV infections
TLDR
Diagnosis needs to be considered in all infants who develop vesicles, unexplained seizures, or possible sepsis in the first 5 weeks of life, and early recognition of neonatal HSV improves the prognosis. Expand
