The Cherenkov Telescope Array, CTA, will be the major global observatory for very high energy gamma-ray astronomy over the next decade and beyond. The scientific potential of CTA is extremely broad: from understanding the role of relativistic cosmic particles to the search for dark matter. CTA is an explorer of the extreme universe, probing environments from the immediate neighbourhood of black holes to cosmic voids on the largest scales. Covering a huge range in photon energy from 20 GeV to…

Sensitivity of the Cherenkov Telescope Array for probing cosmology and fundamental physics with gamma-ray propagation
The Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA), the new-generation ground-based observatory for γ astronomy, provides unique capabilities to address significant open questions in astrophysics, cosmology, and
The Cherenkov Telescope Array view of the Galactic Center region
Among all the high-energy environments of our Galaxy, the Galactic Center (GC) region is definitely the richest. It harbors a large amount of non-thermal emitters, including the closest supermassive
Cherenkov Telescope Array potential in the search for Galactic PeVatrons
One of the major scientific objectives of the future Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) Observatory is the search for PeVatrons. PeVatrons are cosmic-ray factories able to accelerate nuclei at least up
The Cherenkov Telescope Array
The Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) is the observatory for ground-based gamma-ray astronomy that will shape the domain of TeV astronomy for the next decades. CTA will comprise more than 100 imaging
Galactic Novae Simulations for the Cherenkov Telescope Array
Context. The recent discovery of classical novae as sources of & 100 MeV gamma-ray emission by the Fermi-LAT has indicated that shocks play an important role in the acceleration of gamma rays at
The Science Case for a Southern Wide Field of View Detector
EAS arrays are survey instruments able to monitor continuously all the overhead sky. Their sensitivity in the sub-TeV/TeV energy domain cannot compete with that of Cherenkov telescopes, but the wide

Prospects for Detecting Gamma-Ray Bursts at Very High Energies with the Cherenkov Telescope Array
We discuss the prospects for the detection of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) by the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA), the next generation, ground-based facility of imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes

Real-Time Analysis sensitivity evaluation of the Cherenkov Telescope Array
The Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA), the new generation very high-energy gamma-ray observatory, will improve the flux sensitivity of the current Cherenkov telescopes by an order of magnitude over a
IACT observations of gamma-ray bursts: prospects for the Cherenkov Telescope Array
Gamma rays at rest frame energies as high as 90 GeV have been reported from gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) by the Fermi Large Area Telescope (LAT). There is considerable hope that a confirmed GRB detection
Constraining cosmic rays and magnetic fields in the Perseus galaxy cluster with TeV observations by the MAGIC telescopes
Galaxy clusters are being assembled today in the most energetic phase of hierarchical structure formation which manifests itself in powerful shocks that contribute to a substantial energy density of
