Scaling black holes are solutions of supergravity with multiple black hole singularities, which can be adiabatically connected to a single center black hole solution. We develop techniques to determine partition functions for such scaling black holes, if each constituent carries a non-vanishing magnetic charge corresponding to a D4-brane in string theory, or equivalently M5-brane in M-theory. For three constituents, we demonstrate that the partition function is a mock modular form of depth two…

On the existence of scaling multi-centered black holes
For suitable charges of the constituents, the phase space of multi-centered BPS black holes in N = 2 four-dimensional supergravity famously exhibits scaling regions where the distances between the

Split states, entropy enigmas, holes and halos
A bstractWe investigate degeneracies of BPS states of D-branes on compact Calabi-Yau manifolds. We develop a factorization formula for BPS indices using attractor flow trees associated to
Quantum Black Holes, Wall Crossing, and Mock Modular Forms
We show that the meromorphic Jacobi form that counts the quarter-BPS states in N=4 string theories can be canonically decomposed as a sum of a mock Jacobi form and an Appell-Lerch sum. The quantum
Quantizing N = 2 multicenter solutions
N = 2 supergravity in four dimensions, or equivalently N = 1 supergravity in five dimensions, has an interesting set of BPS solutions that each correspond to a number of charged centers. This set
Multiple D3-Instantons and Mock Modular Forms I
We study D3-instanton corrections to the hypermultiplet moduli space in type IIB string theory compactified on a Calabi–Yau threefold. In a previous work, consistency of D3-instantons with S-duality
Black hole bound states in AdS(3) x S**2
We systematically construct the geometries dual to the 1+1 dimensional (0,4) conformal field theories that arise in the low-energy description of wrapped M5-branes in S^1 x CY_3 compactifications of

The results provide an explicit model-independent expression for the macroscopic Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of {ital N}=2 black holes which is manifestly duality invariant.
Multiple D3-Instantons and Mock Modular Forms II
We analyze the modular properties of D3-brane instanton corrections to the hypermultiplet moduli space in type IIB string theory compactified on a Calabi–Yau threefold. In Part I, we found a
Split attractor flows and the spectrum of BPS D-branes on the quintic
We investigate the spectrum of type-IIA BPS D-branes on the quintic from a four-dimensional supergravity perspective and the associated split attractor flow picture. We obtain some very concrete
On the Coulomb and Higgs branch formulae for multi-centered black holes and quiver invariants
A bstractIn previous work we have shown that the equivariant index of multi-centered $ \mathcal{N}=2 $ black holes localizes on collinear configurations along a fixed axis. Here we provide a general
A fixed point formula for the index of multi-centered N = 2 black holes
We propose a formula for computing the (moduli-dependent) contribution of multi-centered solutions to the total BPS index in terms of the (moduli-independent) indices associated to single-centered
