The scale factor ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{\mathrm{eff}},$ which characterizes double parton collisions in high energy hadron interactions, is a direct manifestation of the distribution of the interacting partons in transverse space, in such a way that different distributions give rise to different values of ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{\mathrm{eff}}$ in different double parton collision processes. We work out the value of the scale factor in a few reactions of interest, in a correlated model of the… Expand

pQCD physics of multiparton interactions
• Physics
• 2012
We study production of two pairs of jets in hadron–hadron collisions in view of extracting contribution of double hard interactions of three and four partons (3→4, 4→4). Such interactions, in spiteExpand

Heavy-quark production in proton-nucleus collisions at the CERN LHC
• Physics

A sizable rate of events, with several pairs of $b$-quarks produced contemporarily by multiple parton interactions, may be expected at very high energies as a consequence of the large partonExpand
Testing the scale dependence of the scale factor σeff in double dijet production at the LHC
• Physics
• 2009
The scale factor σeff is the effective cross section used to characterize the measured rate of inclusive double dijet production in high-energy hadron collisions. It is sensitive to the two-partonExpand

HEAVY-QUARK PRODUCTION IN PROTON-NUCLEUS COLLISIONS AT THE LHC
• Physics

One may expect a large rate of events, in hadron-nucleus collisions at the LHC, with several pairs of heavy-quarks produced contemporarily by multiple parton interactions. We estimate the inclusiveExpand
Double parton distribution of valence quarks in the pion in chiral quark models

The valence double parton distribution of the pion is analyzed in the framework of chiral quark models, where in the chiral limit factorization between the longitudinal and transverse degrees ofExpand
Double parton distributions in the pion in the Nambu–Jona-Lasinio model
• Physics
• 2019
Two-parton correlations in the pion, a non perturbative information encoded in double parton distribution functions, are investigated in the Nambu–Jona-Lasinio model. It is found that double partonExpand
Hard four-jet production in pA collisions
• Physics
• 2013
In a suitably chosen back-to-back kinematics, four-jet production in hadronic collisions is known to be dominated by contributions from two independent partonic scattering processes, thus givingExpand
