We investigate spin-0 and spin1 2 perturbations for non-extremal and extremal Reissner-Nordström backgrounds using the isomonodromic method. We calculate the fundamental quasinormal modes (QNMs) associated with each perturbation as a function of the electromagnetic coupling qQ and ratio Q/M . After corroborating the literature values for generic qQ and Q/M , we turn to study the near-extremal limit. In parallel with the study of QNMs for the Kerr geometry, we find the existence of “non-damping… Expand

Quasinormal modes of the Schwarzschild black hole and higher order WKB approach
The low lying characteristic (quasinormal) modes of black holes can be evaluated with the help of the semi-analytic method based on a modied WKB approach. We extend the 3rd order WKB formula of IyerExpand

Quasinormal resonances of a charged scalar field in a charged Reissner-Nordström black hole spacetime: A WKB analysis
Abstract The fundamental quasinormal resonances of charged Reissner–Nordstrom black holes due to charged scalar perturbations are derived analytically. In the WKB regime, q Q ≫ ℏ , we obtain a simpleExpand

The WKB results agree with the numerical ones with an error less than 1% for the lowest-order modes and for somewhat higher orders, the numerical techniques fail but the WKB method continues to give eigenfrequencies that should be reasonably accurate. Expand
