We investigate spin-0 and spin1 2 perturbations for non-extremal and extremal Reissner-Nordström backgrounds using the isomonodromic method. We calculate the fundamental quasinormal modes (QNMs) associated with each perturbation as a function of the electromagnetic coupling qQ and ratio Q/M . After corroborating the literature values for generic qQ and Q/M , we turn to study the near-extremal limit. In parallel with the study of QNMs for the Kerr geometry, we find the existence of “non-damping… Expand

Quasinormal modes of charged fields around a Reissner-Nordström black hole
The quasinormal spectrum of a charged scalar field around a nonextremal Reissner-Nordstr\"om black hole, especially in the limit of large electromagnetic interaction, has been comprehensively studiedExpand
Vector perturbations of Kerr-AdS5 and the Painlevé VI transcendent
We analyze the Ansatz of separability for Maxwell equations in generically spinning, five-dimensional Kerr-AdS black holes. We find that the parameter \mu introduced in a previous work by O. LuninExpand
Asymptotic black hole quasinormal frequencies
We give a new derivation of the quasinormal frequencies of Schwarzschild black holes in d>=4 and Reissner-Nordstrom black holes in d=4, in the limit of infinite damping. For Schwarzschild in d>=4 weExpand
Quasinormal modes of the Schwarzschild black hole and higher order WKB approach
The low lying characteristic (quasinormal) modes of black holes can be evaluated with the help of the semi-analytic method based on a modied WKB approach. We extend the 3rd order WKB formula of IyerExpand
Massive Charged Quasinormal Modes of a Reissner-Nordström Black Hole
Using the WKB method and HYBRD program, we evaluate the low-lying massive charged scalar and Dirac field quasinormal modes (QNMs) of a Reissner-Nordström black hole. We discuss the real and imaginaryExpand
Scalar quasinormal modes of Kerr−AdS5
An analytic expression for the scalar quasinormal modes of generic, spinning Kerr-AdS5 black holes was previously proposed by the authors [J. High Energy Phys. 08 (2017)Expand
Quasinormal resonances of a charged scalar field in a charged Reissner-Nordström black hole spacetime: A WKB analysis
Abstract The fundamental quasinormal resonances of charged Reissner–Nordstrom black holes due to charged scalar perturbations are derived analytically. In the WKB regime, q Q ≫ ℏ , we obtain a simpleExpand
Quasinormal modes of maximally charged black holes.
A new algorithm for computing the accurate values of quasinormal frequencies of extremal Reissner-Nordstr\"{o}m black holes is presented, which is more precise than other results known to date. Expand
Kerr-de Sitter quasinormal modes via accessory parameter expansion
A bstractQuasinormal modes are characteristic oscillatory modes that control the relaxation of a perturbed physical system back to its equilibrium state. In this work, we calculate QNM frequenciesExpand

The WKB results agree with the numerical ones with an error less than 1% for the lowest-order modes and for somewhat higher orders, the numerical techniques fail but the WKB method continues to give eigenfrequencies that should be reasonably accurate. Expand
