One of the most important aspects of wireless sensor networks applications is the network lifetime. A possibility of prolonging lifetime is to turn off some sensors, especially in dense deployed networks with high redundancy. However, to keep the application effectiveness a certain amount of coverage is needed. The coverage is usually quantized by various metrics.
