FreightMiser is an in-cab system that provides optimal driving advice that helps the driver of a long-haul train reduce fuel consumption and improve train pacing. In June-August 2003, a prototype version of the system was trailed in-service on revenue trains travelling over a 72km section of undulating track. The driver effected fuel savings averaged 15% while also delivering the train on-time.
