The goal of the sand modeling effort is to provide a validated predictive capability for the propagation of shock waves through the surf zone (SZ) environment of water, sand, and entrained air. Since the details of the physics are included in the model, this tool is also capable of modeling the response of the threat mine structure to the shock wave.
