Saccular aneurysm associated with segmental duplication (also called "fenestration") of the basilar artery is an anomaly that results from an embryonic fault. Reports of the treatment of the aneurysmal component have only recently appeared in the neurosurgical literature, and little has been written on the morphology of this anomaly. This study answers the need for information about its structure to the extent permitted by the examination of a single specimen. The specimen was obtained at…
Segmental duplication of the basilar artery with thrombosis.
TLDR
Hemodynamic disturbances and turbulent blood flow at the site of fenestration may be the cause of the thrombosis that occurred in this artery.
Ruptured aneurysm arising from a basilar artery fenestration and associated with a persistent primitive hypoglossal artery. Case report and review of the literature.
TLDR
There has been no case in the literature in which a ruptured aneurysm was associated with a PHA or a BA fenestration, and the authors know there has not been any case in which endovascular embolization was used to treat a rupture.
Ruptured aneurysm arising from the distal end of a proximal a(1) fenestration : case report and review of the literature.
TLDR
The present case is peculiar because not only the ruptured A(1) aneurysm was related with the anterior and middle cerebral artery duplication but also the location of A (1) fenestration and the origin of A( 1) anthurysm in a fenESTration are quite unusual.
An asymmetrical fenestration of the basilar artery coexisting with two aneurysms in a patient with subarachnoid haemorrhage: case report and review of the literature.
TLDR
Observing the asymmetric fenestration of the proximal part of the basilar artery coexisting with subarachnoid haemorrhage and 2 aneurysms of brain arteries can help in preventing complications during all endovascular treatment procedures.
Intracranial aneurysms of the posterior circulation associated with a fenestration: a systematic review.
TLDR
It is shown that endovascular occlusions is the treatment of choice for posterior circulation aneurysms associated with fenestrations, being highly effective, with an occlusion rate of about 80%, unchanged at follow-up.
Aneurysm Originating from the Fenestration of the Posterior Cerebral Artery: Case Report
TLDR
The first reported case of an aneurysm originating from the middle portion of a fenestrated posterior cerebral artery is reported, reported in a 37-year-old man with severe headache and disturbance of consciousness.
Duplication of the vertebro-basilar system.
TLDR
During the examination of 75 fixed brains and 2086 vertebral angiograms, there was fenestration of the vertebral artery and two cases of partial duplication of the basilar artery, with embryonic, histological and radiological implications.
Supraclinoid Internal Carotid Artery Fenestration with Associated Aneurysm: Case Report and Literature Review
TLDR
The result suggested that the extent of development of fenestration and the location of fusion are related to the incidence of aneurysms and risk for rupture.

Fenestrated basilar artery with an associated saccular aneurysm. Case report.
A patient who presented with a subarachnoid hemorrhage was found to have a saccular aneurysm arising from the proximal basilar artery. The aneurysm was bilobed, directed anteriorly and inferiorly,
A ruptured aneurysm at the basilar artery fenestration.
TLDR
A case of a bleeding aneurysm arising from the proximal end of a fenestration of the basilar artery is described.
Experience and result with postmortem cerebral angiography performed as routine procedure of the autopsy.
TLDR
The teaching value of postmortem injection of cerebral vessels and angiography as a routine part of every autopsy is pointed out and the importance of injection for easy recognition of aneurysms, carotid-basilar anastomoses and arteriovenous shunts is stressed.
