SU(4) deconfining transition at strong coupling: A Monte Carlo study

The effective theory describing SU(4) lattice gauge theory at finite temperature and strong coupling is investigated via Monte Carlo methods. A first-order deconfining transition is found.

Monte Carlo study of SU(4) gauge theory at finite temperature

The pure SU(4) Yang-Mills theory is studied at finite temperature. We observe a first-order transition at 8/g/sub c//sup 2/ = 10.50 +- 0.02.
