  • Abstract : The design of a fast wave cyclotron gain experiment is described. The tube uses a direct current pumping field parallel to the magnetic field. The gas fill consists of a mixture of argon and a small impurity of a molecular gas. A rhenium cathode, resistant to chemical attack, is used as a thermionic emitter.
