The positronium molecule $({\mathrm{Ps}}_{2})$ has not been experimentally observed yet because its tiny (4.5 eV) binding energy cannot be detected when the molecule annihilates by emitting two photons with energy of 0.51 MeV each. It is shown in this paper that the electric dipole transition between the recently found $L=1$ excited state and the $L=0$ ground state with its characteristic photon energy of 4.94 eV is a clear signature of the existence of the positronium molecule and the…

Quantum Chemical Calculations on Positronic Systems
• Physics
• 2003
The positron, which existence has been foreseen by Dirac theory and his invariant wave equation [1], is the antiparticle of the electron, with the mass and spin equal to those of the electron, but
Optical spectroscopy of atomic and molecular positronium
Positronium (Ps) is a purely leptonic hydrogen-like atom formed from an electron and a positron. Since the interactions of electrons and positrons are thought to be almost entirely electromagnetic,
Atomic and molecular structures of positronium, dipositronium and positronium hydride
The structures of the above exotic chemical entities based on exact atomic radii are evaluated here for the first time and are of help for a better understanding and further development of the chemistry and physics of these short lived compounds.
Positron and positronium interactions with Cu
• Physics
• 2002
The configuration-interaction (CI) method is used to investigate the interactions of positrons and positronium with copper at low energies. The calculations were performed within the framework of the
Binding-energy predictions of positronium-atom systems
• Physics
• 2012
A large amount of work has been performed on positron and positronium (Ps) binding to atoms. Positron binding was treated in our last paper [Phys. Rev. A 83, 032504 (2011)], of which the present
Positronium binding to potassium and other alkali atoms
• Physics
• 1999
The fixed-core stochastic variational method has been used to demonstrate the existence of an electronically stable ground state for potassium positride, KPs, with a binding energy of 0.003 275
Positronium – Hydrogen Like and Unlike
A brief review on positronium, Ps, hydrogen-like system built from positron and electron, is outlined from its beginning in 1935, the first theoretical study on this relatively stable
POSITRON ANNIHILATION PROFILES FOR HPS AND HE(3SE)E
• Physics
• 1999
A theory of positron annihilation for exotic atoms is presented. An expression for the 2 annihilation rate for transitions to individual residual atom (or ion) states recoiling at a given recoil
