We report the results of a high-resolution spectroscopic survey of all the stars more luminous than M V = 6.5 mag within 14.5 pc from the Sun. The Hipparcos catalog's completeness limits guarantee that our survey is comprehensive and free from some of the selection effects in other samples of nearby stars. The resulting spectroscopic database, which we have made publicly available, includes spectra for 118 stars obtained with a resolving power of $R \simeq 50\,000$, continuous spectral coverage…

S 4 N: A spectroscopic survey of stars

The Geneva–Copenhagen Survey of the Solar Neighbourhood
Abstract We report on a new survey of metallicities, ages, and Galactic orbits for a complete, magnitude-limited, and kinematically unbiased all-sky sample of 16 682 nearby F- and G-dwarfs. Our ∼ 63
Abundances of Baade’s Window Giants from Keck HIRES Spectra. I. Stellar Parameters and [Fe/H] Values
We present the first results of a new abundance survey of the Milky Way bulge based on Keck HIRES spectra of 27 K giants in the Baade's Window (l = 1°, b = -4°) field. The spectral data used in this
A Spectroscopic Study of the Ancient Milky Way: F- and G-Type Stars in the Third Data Release of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey
We perform an analysis of spectra and photometry for 22,770 stars included in the third data release (DR3) of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). We derive atmospheric parameters and distances. Our
STELLAR ABUNDANCES IN THE SOLAR NEIGHBORHOOD: THE HYPATIA CATALOG
We compile spectroscopic abundance data from 84 literature sources for 50 elements across 3058 stars in the solar neighborhood, within 150 pc of the Sun, to produce the Hypatia Catalog. We evaluate
Dwarfs in the Local Region
We present lithium, carbon, and oxygen abundance data for a sample of nearby dwarfs—a total of 216 stars—including samples within 15 pc of the Sun, as well as a sample of local close giant planet
Abundances in a Large Sample of Stars in M3 and M13
We have carried out a detailed abundance analysis for 21 elements in a sample of 25 stars with a wide range in luminosity from luminous giants to stars near the main-sequence turnoff in the globular
THE METALLICITY DISTRIBUTION FUNCTIONS OF SEGUE G AND K DWARFS: CONSTRAINTS FOR DISK CHEMICAL EVOLUTION AND FORMATION
We present the metallicity distribution function (MDF) for 24,270 G and 16,847 K dwarfs at distances from 0.2 to 2.3 kpc from the Galactic plane, based on spectroscopy from the Sloan Extension for
On the formation and evolution of magnetic chemically peculiar stars in the solar neighborhood
In order to put strict observational constraints on the evolutionary status of the magnetic chemically peculiar stars (CP2) of the upper main sequence, we have investigated a well established sample
Fundamental parameters and abundances of metal-poor stars : the SDSS standard BD +17 4708
The atmospheric parameters and iron abundance of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) spectrophotometric standard star BD +17 4708 are critically examined using up-to-date Kurucz model atmospheres,

Kinematics and Metallicity of Stars in the Solar Region
Several samples of nearby stars with the most accurate astrometric and photometric parameters are searched for clues to their evolutionary history. The main samples are (1) the main-sequence stars
Star Formation History in the Solar Vicinity
The star formation history in the solar neighborhood is inferred by comparing a sample of field stars from the Hipparcos catalog with synthetic color-magnitude diagrams. We consider separately the
The metallicity distribution of G dwarfs in the solar neighbourhood
We derive a new metallicity distribution of G dwarfs in the solar neighbourhood, using uvby photometry and up-to-date parallaxes. Our distribution comprises 287 G dwarfs within 25 pc from the Sun,
The solar neighborhood age-metallicity relation - Does it exist?
We test the hypothesis that the spread in the age-metallicity plot of the solar neighborhood is due to a mixture of stars belonging to kinematically different sub-populations of the Galactic disk,
Catalogue of [Fe/H] determinations for FGK stars: 2001 edition
The catalogue presented here is a compilation of published atmospheric parameters ($T_\mathrm{eff}$, $\log g$, [Fe/H]) obtained from high resolution, high signal-to-noise spectroscopic observations.
On the Nature of Stars with Planets
We consider the metallicities and kinematics of nearby stars known to have planetary‐mass companions in the general context of the overall properties of the local Galactic disk. We have used
The Age of the Oldest Stars in the Local Galactic Disk from Hipparcos Parallaxes of G and K Subgiants
We review the history of the discovery of field subgiant stars, the role that they played in the development of the early understanding of stellar evolution, and their importance in the age dating of
Chemical abundances of old metal-rich stars in the solar neighborhood
We report on chemical abundances for 15 old metal-rich stars in the solar neighborhood based on high-resolution, high signal-to-noise ratio observations. It is found that [O/Fe], [S/Fe], and probably
On the metallicity of the Milky Way thin disc and photometric abundance scales
The mean metallicity of the Milky Way thin disc in the solar neighbourhood is still a matter of debate, and we recently proposed an upward revision. Our star sample was drawn from a set of solar
Spectroscopic Abundances of Solar Type Dwarfs in the Open Cluster M34
Parameters and relative abundances of Fe, Ni, Ti, Cr, Ca, Si, Al, and Mg have been derived for nine M34 G and K dwarfs from high-resolution, modest signal-to-noise ratio Keck HIRES spectra. Effective
