S-matrix formulation of gravity excludes de Sitter vacua. In particular, this is organic to string theory. The S-matrix constraint is enforced by an anomalous quantum break-time proportional to the inverse values of gravitational and/or string couplings. Due to this, de Sitter can satisfy the conditions for a valid vacuum only at the expense of trivializing the graviton and closed-string S-matrices. At non-zero gravitational and string couplings, de Sitter is deformed by corpuscular 1/N effects…

de Sitter space as a BRST invariant coherent state of gravitons

The S-matrix formulation indicates that a consistent embedding of de Sitter state in quantum gravity is possible exclusively as an excited quantum state constructed on top of a valid S-matrix vacuum

On $S$-Matrix Exclusion of de Sitter and Naturalness

The cosmological constant puzzle, traditionally viewed as a naturalness problem, is evidently nullified by the S-matrix formulation of quantum gravity/string theory. We point out an implication of

de Sitter Space as a Glauber‐Sudarshan State: II

We provide further evidence to support the fact that a four‐dimensional effective field theory description with de Sitter isometries in IIB string theory, overcoming the no‐go and the swampland

Quantum Gravity in Species Regime

A large number of particle species allows to formulate quantum gravity in a special double-scaling limit, the species limit. In this regime, quantum gravitational amplitudes simplify substantially.

A gravitino distance conjecture

We conjecture that in N = 1 supersymmetric 4d string vacua with non-vanishing gravitino mass, the limit m3/2 → 0 is at infinite distance. In particular one can write Mtower ' m3/2 so that as the

Tachyonic de Sitter Solutions of 10d Type II Supergravities

Cosmological models of the early or late universe exhibit (quasi) de Sitter space‐times with different stability properties. Considering models derived from string theory, the swampland program does

Is asymptotically safe inflation eternal?

Recently, based on swampland considerations in string theory, the (no) eternal inflation principle has been put forward. The natural question arises whether similar conditions hold in other

Gauge hierarchy from electroweak vacuum metastability

We consider the possibility that the gauge hierarchy is a byproduct of the metastability of the electroweak vacuum, i.e., that whatever mechanism is responsible for the latter also sets the running

Exploring the parameter space of modified supergravity for double inflation and primordial black hole formation

We study the parameter space of the effective (with two scalars) models of cosmological inflation and primordial black hole (PBH) formation in the modified (R+ R 2) supergravity. Our models

De Sitter vacua in string theory

We outline the construction of metastable de Sitter vacua of type IIB string theory. Our starting point is highly warped IIB compactifications with nontrivial NS and RR three-form fluxes. By

Quantum Compositeness of Gravity: Black Holes, AdS and Inflation

Gravitational backgrounds, such as black holes, AdS, de Sitter and inflationary universes, should be viewed as composite of N soft constituent gravitons. It then follows that such systems are close

Four-dimensional de Sitter space is a Glauber-Sudarshan state in string theory

Abstract We show that four-dimensional de Sitter space is a Glauber-Sudarshan state, i.e. a coherent state, over a supersymmetric solitonic background in full string theory. We argue that such a

Quantum Breaking Bound on de Sitter and Swampland

Quantum consistency suggests that any de Sitter patch that lasts a number of Hubble times that exceeds its Gibbons‐Hawking entropy divided by the number of light particle species suffers an effect of

Species and Strings

Based on well-known properties of semi-classical black holes, we show that weakly-coupled string theory can be viewed as a theory of N = 1/g_s^2 particle species. This statement is a string theoretic

Quantum break-time of de Sitter

The quantum break-time of a system is the time-scale after which its true quantum evolution departs from the classical mean field evolution. For capturing it, a quantum resolution of the classical

Quantum Gravity In De Sitter Space

We discuss some general properties of quantum gravity in De Sitter space. It has been argued that the Hilbert space is of finite dimension. This suggests a macroscopic argument that General

De Sitter Space and the Swampland

It has been notoriously difficult to construct a meta-stable de Sitter (dS) vacuum in string theory in a controlled approximation. This suggests the possibility that meta-stable dS belongs to the

On corpuscular theory of inflation

In order to go beyond the mean-field approximation, commonly used in the inflationary computations, an identification of the quantum constituents of the inflationary background is made. In
