A total of 136 rotifer taxa was identified from the qualitative samples of Dongting Lake. Of these, one is new to science (Keratella wangi n. sp.), thirty-four are new records for China. The description of the new species was presented, the taxonomy and ecology of Rhinoglena tokioensis (Sudzuki), which was found for the first time twenty years after it was described, was illustrated. The habitat distribution and preference of rotifer species was also discussed.
