NSP4, a nonstructural glycoprotein encoded by rotavirus, is involved in the morphogenesis of virus particles in the endoplasmic reticulum of infected cells. NSP4 is also implicated in the pathophysiology of rotavirus-induced diarrhea by acting as an enterotoxin.
