The Rhodobacter sphaeroides genome contains two unlinked genetic regions each encoding a series of proteins involved in CO2 fixation which include phosphoribulokinase (prkA and prkB) and ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (rbcLS and rbcR) (P.
