The involvement of the ventromedial nucleus of the hypothalamus (VMH) in the mating-induced enhancement of lordosis in ovariectomized estrogen-primed rats was investigated. In the first experiment, females with bilateral VMH or sham lesions were primed with 2 micrograms estradiol benzoate, and 48 h later they were subjected to repeated-mating tests.
