On the basis of previous studies on Trypanosoma lewisi immunosuppression model groups of 5 Wistar rats were infected with. T. gondii and T. lewisi according to the following protocol. One group was inoculated i.p. with 10 6 T. lewisi tripanomastigotes and 4 days later with 10 7 T. gondii tachyzoites. The second and third groups were infected only with T. lewisi or T. gondii respectively. The fourth group was not infected and served as control. Rats were bled before the infection and then every… Expand

TLDR
The results suggest that conditions are gathered for rat to human transmission of T. lewisi in these socio-environmentally degraded urban areas, thus pointing towards the rapidly urbanizing Abidjan-Lagos corridor as a region at particular risk. Expand
Comparison of two serological methods for the diagnosis IgG antibody against in newborn
TLDR
Compared to Indirect Immunofluorescence and Toxoplasma Latex by Brunelli to prove which of them is the most sensitive and specific to determine seroprevalence of IgG antiToxoplasm gondii in newborn in Neonatology Service at Lenin Hospital of Holguin Province, Cuba is the main objective. Expand
Role of nitric oxide in the immunosuppressive effect of trypanosoma lewisi on multiplication of toxoplasma gondii in white rats
TLDR
This poster presents a probabilistic procedure that can be used to assess the impact of repeated exposure to radiation on the immune system through a variety of mechanisms, including “self-consistency” and “cell reprograming. Expand
Comparación de dos métodos serológicos para el diagnóstico de anticuerpos en neonatos
Dissimilar are the methods used to determine the seroprevalence of IgG antibodies against to Toxoplasma gondii in different samples. In this research were compared to Indirect Immunofluorescence andExpand

TLDR
The restoration of normal splenocyte responses to Con A by addition of exogenous IL 2 or by washing cells suggests that the suppressor factor acts on the T cells by inhibiting their proliferation and IL 2 production, and the continued presence of these products is essential in the maintenance of suppression. Expand
Increasing of Toxoplasma gondii (Coccidia, Sarcocystidae) infections by Trypanosoma lewisi (Kinetoplastida, Trypanosomatidae) in white rats.
TLDR
The increase in T. gondii multiplication in white rats is observed four days after trypanosome inoculation and is dependent on rat strain, but not on inoculum size or rat age, although Humoral and cellular factors may have a role in the increase. Expand
Infection of white rat peritoneal macrophages with Toxoplasma gondii, (Coccidia: Sarcocystidae) after Trypanosoma lewisi (Kinetoplastida: Trypanosomatidae) infection.
TLDR
It has been demonstrated that in vivo, but not in vitro T. lewisi infections, causes an important decrease of the natural resistance to T. gondii of the white rats, which is manifested by the major invasion and multiplication of the parasite inside of peritoneal macrophages. Expand
IMMUNOLOGICAL AND BIOCHEMICAL STUDIES OF ABLASTIN, THE REPRODUCTION‐INHIBITING ANTIBODY TO TRYPANOSOMA LEWISI *
TLDR
Trypanosoma lewisi, a parasitic, protozoan hemoflagellate of the rat, has attracted the interest of biologists for many years, but until the now classical studies of Taliaferro were begun in the 1920’s the unique nature of the immunological response to the parasite was fully appreciated. Expand
Suppression by Trypanosoma cruzi of T-cell receptor expression by activated human lymphocytes.
TLDR
If occurring in infected hosts, the alterations that T. cruzi causes in the expression of TcR, CD4, CD8 and IL-2R--all molecules playing important roles in lymphocyte activation--could contribute to the development of the immunosuppression observed during the acute phase of Chagas' disease. Expand
Adaptación natural de rata blanca a Toxoplasma gondii
TLDR
According to these results, age and macrophage activity are very important factors in the natural adaptability of the white rat to Toxoplasma gondii. Expand
Mechanisms underlying trypanosome-elicited immunosuppression.
TLDR
Results indicate that the uptake of T. brucei by macrophages, either in vivo or in vitro, results in the generation of suppressive cells that annihilate T-cell proliferative responses. Expand

Trypanosome-induced suppression of T and B cell responses to parasite-related and -unrelated Ags is considered a major mechanism of evasion of the host’s immune defenses by the parasite. Reduced TExpand
Immune response of cattle infected with African trypanosomes.
TLDR
This review describes the specific T cell and monocyte/macrophage functions that are altered in trypanosome-infected cattle and compares these disorders with those that have been described in the murine model oftrypanosomosis. Expand
Rodent trypanosomes: their conflict with the immune system of the host.
TLDR
The immune responses to rodent trypanosomes and on the tricks the parasites play to minimize the effects of those responses are focused on. Expand
