Thyroid carcinoma derived from the thyroid hormone-producing follicular epithelium is the most common thyroid malignancy. While the morphologic diagnosis of conventional papillary thyroid carcinoma is simple, thyroid tumors with a follicular pattern are sometimes a diagnostic challenge.
