Polycystic ovarian syndrome or (PCOS) is a complex endocrinal and metabolic disorder affecting every 1 in 10 women worldwide of reproductive age. In these women hyperinsulinemia may contribute to the pathogenesis of PCOS by promoting abnormal androgen secretion, disrupting folliculogenesis and menstrual cyclicity.
