ANTI-INFLAMMATORY INFLUENCE OF ADRENERGIC AGONISTS & ANTAGONISTS & THEIR INTERACTION WITH ASPIRIN IN WISTAR RATS

Phenyephrine, terbutaline, prazosin, propranolol & atenolol were evaluated for their action on the acute & subacute models of inflammation & also their interaction with aspirin at subtherapeutic doses in Wistar rats.

Potentiation by beta-adrenoceptor blocking agents of the inhibitory effect of adrenaline on carrageenin-induced rat paw oedema.

It is suggested that the marked potentiation of the oedema inhibition caused by adrenaline might be due to a combined effect of increased adrenaline stores and β-adrenoceptor blockade.

THE INFLUENCE OF SOME ANTIDEPRESSANTS ON INFLAMMATION IN ALBINO RATS
