The determination of the chemical composition of solid cometary dust particles was one of the prime objectives of the three missions to Comet Halley in 1986. The dust analysis was performed by time-of-flight mass-spectrometry. Within the experimental uncertainty the mean abundances of the rock-forming elements in cometary dust particles are comparable to their abundances in CI-chondrites and in the solar photosphere, i.e. they are cosmic. H, C, and N, on the other hand, in cometary dust are…
On the Organic Refractory Component of Cometary Dust
Cometary nuclei consist of ices intermixed with dust grains and are thought to be the least modified solar system bodies remaining from the time of planetary formation. Flyby missions to Comet

TLDR
The properties of refractory materials imply there were disc processes that resulted in different comets having particular selections of primitive materials, which has implications for the diversity of materials in the protoplanetary disc present at the time and in the region where the comets formed.
Mid-infrared spectra of cometary dust: the evasion of its silicate mineralogy
Infrared spectra of dust in cometary comae provide a way to identify its silicate constituents, and this is crucial for correctly understanding the condition under which our planetary system is
The Mineralogy of Cometary Dust
Cometary dust is a heterogeneous mixture of unequilibrated olivine and pyroxenes, amorphous silicates, Fe-Ni sulfides, and minor amounts of oxides and other minerals. While forsterite Mg2SiO4 and
Composition, Structure, and Size Distribution of Dust in the Local Interstellar Cloud
The average properties of interstellar dust have previously been inferred from remote astronomical observations of interstellar extinction and from gas depletion measurements. In addition to recent

Connection between micrometeorites and Wild 2 particles: From Antarctic snow to cometary ices
Abstract— We discuss the relationship between large cosmic dust that represents the main source of extraterrestrial matter presently accreted by the Earth and samples from comet 81P/Wild 2 returned
Properties of Interplanetary Dust: Information from Collected Samples
The properties of hundreds of interplanetary particles have been determined by direct laboratory analysis of recovered samples. The particles that span the 1 μm to 1 mm size range have been collected

TLDR
Comprehensive study of data and consideration of the mass of dust particles reveal cometary grains of "unusual" composition: magnesium-rich and iron-rich particles.
The link between cometary and interstellar dust
From spectral observations, both interstellar and cometary dust appear to contain silicates, amorphous carbon, hydrocarbons and mantles comprised of complex organic matter (e.g. Tielens and
Carbon in Comet Halley dust particles
Comets are small bodies of the solar system containing primarily a mixture of frozen gases and carbonaceous and mineral grains. They are likely to preserve volatile mineral from cold regions of the
