Robustness of the MUSIC algorithm to Errors in Estimation the Dimensions of the Subspaces: Delay Estimation in DS/SS in the Presence of Interference

Abstract

The performance of the MUSIC estimator is studied by simulations if the estimator is applied for delay estimation of a direct sequence spread spectrum (DS/SS) signal corrupted by multiple access or multipath interference. Special emphasis is on the sensitivity to estimation errors on the dimension of the signal subspace, which case is also analytically investigated. The results show that the MUSIC estimator can mitigate the effects of other DS/SS signals, if the dimension of the signal subspace is not undermodeled. Also, it is quite sensitive to a highly correlated multipath signal.
