Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) are serious and often fatal diseases. The pathophysiology of both diseases is complex and in part is attributed to alterations in the nitric oxide (NO)-soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC)-cyclic guanosine monophosphate pathway.
