Synthesis of [3'-2H]-labeled 5'-methylthioadenosine (MTA) derivatives permitted measurement of the [3'-2H] KIE of the reaction catalyzed by Streptococcus pneumoniae methylthioadenosine nucleosidase (spMTAN).
