OBJECTIVES Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic inflammatory disease associated with an increased prevalence of coronary heart disease and a high cardiovascular (CV) mortality. In this article, a review of mechanisms implicated in the development of accelerated atherogenesis in RA was performed.
