Two alpha-L-rhamnohydrolases with different substrate specificities were isolated from a commercial preparation produced by Aspergillus aculeatus. The first rhamnohydrolase was active toward p-nitrophenyl-alpha-L- rhamnopyranoside, naringin, and hesperidin and was termed p-nitrophenyl-alpha-L-rhamnopyranohydrolase (pnp-rhamnohydrolase).
