Revisiting the double-binary-pulsar probe of non-dynamical Chern-Simons gravity

  title={Revisiting the double-binary-pulsar probe of non-dynamical Chern-Simons gravity},

One of the popular modifications to the theory of general relativity is non-dynamical Chern-Simons (CS) gravity, in which the metric is coupled to an externally prescribed scalar field. Setting accurate constraints to the parameters of the theory is important owing to their implications for the scalar field and/or the underlying fundamental theory. The current best constraints rely on measurements of the periastron precession rate in the double-binary-pulsar system and place a very tight bound…

Vacuum Instability in Chern-Simons Gravity
We explore perturbations about a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker background in Chern-Simons gravity. At large momenta one of the two circularly polarized tensor modes becomes ghostlike. We argue that

Parity-violating gravity and GW170817
We consider gravitational waves (GWs) in generic parity-violating gravity including recently proposed ghost-free theories with parity violation as well as Chern-Simons modified gravity, and study the
Homochirality: A Perspective from Fundamental Physics
The role played by electroweak parity violation, including neutrino-induced homochirality, and contributions from the gravitational interaction, will be emphasized.
