A bstractCurrent experimental sensitivity on neutrino magnetic moments is many orders of magnitude above the Standard Model prediction. A potential measurement of next-generation experiments would therefore strongly request new physics beyond the Standard Model. However, large neutrino magnetic moments generically tend to induce large corrections to the neutrino masses and lead to fine-tuning. We show that in a model where neutrino masses are proportional to neutrino magnetic moments. We…

Neutrino magnetic moments meet precision Neff measurements

In the early universe, Dirac neutrino magnetic moments due to their chirality-flipping nature could lead to thermal production of right-handed neutrinos, which would make a significant contribution

Phenomenology of neutrino magnetic moments

The neutrino magnetic moment (NMM) in the Standard Model, minimally extended allowing for massive neutrinos, is many orders of magnitude below current and expected experimental sensitivities. A

Direct detection experiments at the neutrino dipole portal frontier

Heavy sterile neutrinos are typically invoked to accommodate the observed neutrino masses, by positing a new Yukawa term connecting these new states to the neutrinos in the electroweak doublet.

Exploiting a future galactic supernova to probe neutrino magnetic moments

A core-collapse supernova (SN) offers an excellent astrophysical laboratory to test non-zero neutrino magnetic moments. In particular, the neutronization burst phase, which lasts for a few tens of

The neutrino magnetic moment portal: cosmology, astrophysics, and direct detection

We revisit the physics of neutrino magnetic moments, focusing in particular on the case where the right-handed, or sterile, neutrinos are heavier (up to several MeV) than the left-handed Standard

Collective oscillations of Majorana neutrinos in strong magnetic fields and self-induced flavor equilibrium

We study collective oscillations of Majorana neutrinos in some of the most extreme astrophysical sites such as neutron star merger remnants and magneto-rotational core-collapse supernovae which

Majorana versus Dirac Constraints on the Neutrino Dipole Moments

Massive neutrinos are guaranteed to have nonzero electromagnetic moments and, since there are at least three neutrino species, these dipole moments define a matrix. Here, we estimate the current upper

Magnetic Moments of Astrophysical Neutrinos

We study the impact of neutrino magnetic moments on astrophysical neutrinos, in particular supernova neutrinos and ultra-high energy neutrinos from extragalactic sources. We show that magnetic

Solar neutrino physics

As a free, intensive, rarely interactive and well directional messenger, solar neutrinos have been driving both solar physics and neutrino physics developments for more than half a century. Since

Neutrino Electromagnetic Properties and the Weak Mixing Angle at the LHC Forward Physics Facility

The LHC produces an intense beam of highly energetic neutrinos of all three flavors in the forward direction, and the Forward Physics Facility (FPF) has been proposed to house a suite of experiments

Large neutrino magnetic dipole moments in MSSM extensions

An analysis of the Dirac neutrino magnetic moment with standard model interactions gives $\mu_\nu\sim 3 \times 10^{-19} \mu_B (m_\nu/1 eV)$. The observation of a significantly larger magnetic moment

How Magnetic is the Dirac Neutrino?

We derive model-independent, "naturalness" upper bounds on the magnetic moments munu of Dirac neutrinos generated by physics above the scale of electroweak symmetry breaking. In the absence of

Model for large transition magnetic moment of the electron neutrino.

We propose a simple extension of the standard model by adding an SU(2)/sub /ital H// horizontal gauge symmetry in the leptonic sector, which leads to a large transition magnetic moment of the

Electric charge and magnetic moment of massive neutrino

We consider a massive Dirac neutrino electric charge and magnetic moment within the context of the standard model supplied with SU(2)-singlet right-handed neutrino in arbitrary R_\xi gauge. Using the
