We revisit the scenario where inflation is preceded by a radiation era by considering that the inflaton too could have been in thermal equilibrium early in the radiation era. Hence we take into account not only the effect of a pre-inflationary era on the inflaton mode functions but also that of a frozen thermal distribution of inflaton quanta. We initially discuss in detail the issues relevant to our scenario of a pre-inflationary radiation dominated era and then obtain the scalar power…

Semiclassical predictions regarding a preinflationary era and its effects on the power spectrum

An investigation is undertaken into the properties and effects of a pre-inflationary era during at least part of which semiclassical gravity was valid. It is argued that if the Universe (or our part

Thermal gravitational-wave background in the general pre-inflationary scenario

We investigate the primordial gravitational waves (PGWs) in the general scenario where the inflation is preceded by a pre-inflationary stage with the effective equation of state w. Comparing with the

Warm bounce in loop quantum cosmology and the prediction for the duration of inflation

We study and estimate probabilistic predictions for the duration of the preinflationary and slow-roll phases after the bounce in loop quantum cosmology, determining how the presence of radiation in

Argument for the radiation-dominated behavior of matter fields in the preinflationary era

We investigate the leading-order behavior of matter fields in the preinflationary era using the semiclassical approximation. Many inflationary models assume without supporting arguments that the

A plausible solution to the problem of initial conditions for inflation

We propose yet another solution to the initial condition problem of inflation associated with homogeneity beyond the horizon at the onset of inflation, in cases where inflation is preceded by a

Joint Planck and WMAP assessment of low CMB multipoles

The remarkable progress in cosmic microwave background (CMB) studies over past decade has led to the era of precision cosmology in striking agreement with the ΛCDM model. However, the lack of power

Primordial perturbations with pre-inflationary bounce

Based on the effective field theory (EFT) of nonsingular cosmologies, we build a stable model, without the ghost and gradient instabilities, of bounce inflation (inflation is preceded by a

Large-Scale Corrections to the CMB Anisotropy from Asymptotic de Sitter Mode

In this study, large-scale effects from asymptotic de Sitter mode on the CMB anisotropy are investigated. Besides the slow variation of the Hubble parameter onset of the last stage of inflation, the

Universal upper bound on the inflationary energy scale from the trans-Planckian censorship conjecture

We study the constraint on the inflationary energy scale from the recently proposed Trans-Planckian Censorship Conjecture (TCC). We find a universal upper bound on the inflationary Hubble expansion

Effects of a preinflation radiation-dominated epoch to CMB anisotropy

We consider that the preinflation era is radiation dominated, transiting smoothly to the inflationary era. We work out in detail the dynamics of inflaton fluctuations across the phase transition and

Pre-inflationary vacuum in the cosmic microwave background

We consider the effects on the primordial power spectrum of a period of radiation-dominated expansion prior to the inflationary era. If inflation lasts a total of only 60 e-folds or so, the boundary

Temperature of the inflaton and duration of inflation from WMAP data

If the initial state of the inflaton field is taken to have a thermal distribution instead of the conventional zero particle vacuum state then the curvature power spectrum gets modified by a temperature

Punctuated inflation and the low CMB multipoles

We investigate inflationary scenarios driven by a class of potentials which are similar in form to those that arise in certain minimal supersymmetric extensions of the standard model. We find that

Temperature of the inflaton and duration of inflation from Wilkinson microwave anisotropy probe data.

It is concluded that there must be additional -foldings of inflation beyond what is needed to solve the horizon problem.

Initial condition of scalar perturbation in inflation

We show that the physics of pre-inflation produces an effect on the power spectrum of curvature perturbations. Namely, based on the physical conditions before inflation, the possibility exists that

Effect of initial condition of inflation on power and angular power spectra in finite slow-roll inflation

The effect of the initial condition of inflation on the power spectra of scalar and tensor perturbations is estimated assuming a slow-roll inflation model. By defining a more general initial state in

Suppressing the lower multipoles in the CMB anisotropies

The Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) anisotropy power on the largest angular scales observed both by WMAP and COBE DMR appears to be lower than the one predicted by the standard model of cosmology

Just enough inflation: power spectrum modifications at large scales

We show that models of `just enough' inflation, where the slow-roll evolution lasted only 50- 60 e-foldings, feature modifications of the CMB power spectrum at large angular scales. We perform a
