Close examination of type and new material of Decacotyle lymmae Young, 1967 revealed the presence of two unsclerotised structures on the dorsal surface of the haptor which were overlooked in the original description. We demonstrate that Papillicotyle Young, 1967, distinguished previously from Decacotyle Young, 1967 in part by the presence of unsclerotised accessory structures on the dorsal surface of the haptor, is synonymous with Decacotyle. D. tetrakordyle n. sp. is described from the gills… Expand

Figures from this paper

Monocotylids (Monogenea: Monopisthocotylea) from Aetobatus cf. narinari off New Caledonia, with a description of Decacotyle elpora n. sp.
Four species of monocotylid monogeneans were found on a spotted eagle ray Aetobatus cf. narinari caught off Nouméa, New Caledonia, South Pacific. The host is illustrated for future possibleExpand
Thaumatocotyle pseudodasybatis Hargis, 1955 (Monogenea: Monocotylidae) from Aetobatus cf. narinari, with a comparison of specimens from Australia, French Polynesia and New Caledonia
The hypothesis that detailed examination of specimens of monocotylids from rays from various localities could reveal morphological differences and eventually help the understanding of the systematics of the host is tested. Expand
Two new species of Myliocotyle (Monogenea: Monocotylidae) from the gills of Aetomylaeus maculatus and A. nichofii (Elasmobranchii: Myliobatidae) from Sarawak, Borneo, Malaysia.
The diagnosis for Myliocotyle is revised given the discovery of additional dorsal haptoral accessory structures in the type species and to accommodate other new characters of the two new species. Expand
Denarycotyle gardneri n. gen., n. sp. (Monogenea: Monocotylidae: Euzetiinae), from the gills of Rhinoptera steindachneri (Rhinopteridae) from Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico
Denarycotyle gardneri n. gen., n. sp. (Monogenea: Monocotylidae) is described from the gills of the stingray, Rhinoptera steindachneri (Myliobatidae), collected in marine waters off Acapulco,Expand
Malalophus jensenae n. g., n. sp. (Monogenea: Monocotylidae) from the gills of Aetomylaeus vespertilio (Myliobatidae) off northern Australia
Malalophus jensenae n. g., n. sp. is described from the gills of the ornate eagle ray Aetomylaeus vespertilio (Bleeker) collected off the eastern coast of the Gulf of Carpentaria, northernExpand
Morphology and development of the haptors among the Monocotylidae (Monogenea)
It is demonstrated that differences in the morphology of the hamuli and the number and morphology of septal sclerites and marginal papillae among these species of Monocotyle can be related directly to their microhabitat. Expand
Two new species of Dendromonocotyle Hargis, 1955 (Monogenea: Monocotylidae) from the skin of Taeniura meyeni (Dasyatidae) and Aetobatus narinari (Myliobatidae) from aquaria in Queensland, Australia
Two new Dendromonocotyle species are described from the dorsal skin surface of Taeniura meyeni Müller & Henle from a public aquarium in Mooloolaba, Queensland, Australia. Expand
Decacotyle cairae n. sp. (Monogenea: Monocotylidae) from the gills of Pastinachus sp. (Elasmobranchii: Dasyatidae) from the South China Sea off Sarawak, Borneo, Malaysia
The host specimens of Pastinachus collected in Borneo appear to be a new species and the monogenean data support this conclusion and a key to species of Decacotyle is given. Expand
Euzetia occultum n. g., n. sp. (Euzetiinae n. subf.), a monocotylid monogenean from the gills of Rhinoptera neglecta (Rhinopteridae) from Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia
This is the first published record of a monocotylid from a species of Rhinoptera Cuvier and is proposed as a new genus, Euzetia occultum, which does not fit into any of the six existing subfamilies in the Monokotylidae Taschenberg, 1879. Expand
Monocotylids (Monogenoidea) infecting elasmobranchs in Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia, with descriptions of Calicotyle cutmorei n. sp. (Calicotylinae) and Dendromonocotyle raiae n. sp. (Monocotylinae).
Eighteen monocotylid species were collected from elasmobranchs during surveys of the parasites of fishes of Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia, and six new faunal records are reported, including a new host record for T. australensis, and A. rhynchobatis. Expand

A revision of Heterocotyle (Monogenea:Monocotylidae) with a description of Heterocotyle capricornensis n. sp. from Himantura fai (Dasyatididae) from Heron Island, Great Barrier Reef, Australia.
The genus is revised, characters which unite the members of the genus could not be confirmed for Heterocotyle elliptica Pillai & Pillai, 1976 and H. robusta (Johnston & Tiegs, 1992) Price, 1938 and therefore they are considered species inquirendae. Expand
A revision of Neoheterocotyle (Monogenea:Monocotylidae) with descriptions of the larvae of N. rhinobatis and N. rhynchobatis from Heron Island, Great Barrier Reef, Australia.
There are 7 valid species in the genus, including N. rhinobatis, and the anterior glands of the larvae are related to those of the adults and the development of the male copulatory organ of N.rhinobatidis is described. Expand
A phylogenetic analysis and revised classification of the Monocotylidae Taschenberg, 1879 (Monogenea)
The Monocotylidae Taschenberg, 1879 is revised based on a cladistic analysis of relationships between the constituent species and genera. The monophyly of the family is supported by three apomorphicExpand
Observations on Flatworms and Nemerteans Collected at Beaufort, N. C
During the summer of 1946, from May 23 to August 27, I studied consortes of marine animals collected at Beaufort, N. C, and found eight new species of trematodes and one new genus. Expand
Clemacotyle australis (Monogenea: Monocotylidae) from the white-spotted eagle ray Aetobatus narinari (Rajiformes: Myliobatididae) on the Great Barrier Reef: redescription, emended generic diagnosis, and oncomiracidium.
