From a review of pertinent literature on the Japanese species of Cystidicola, Metabronema, and Rhabdochona from salmonoid fishes, the 16 named species have been reduced to 15 and 11 of them have been distributed among three genera as follows: Rhabdochona oncorhynchi (FUJITA, 1921) F UJITA, 1927 (syns. Cystidicola o. F. , 1921 ; Rhabdochona o. F UJITA, 1940), R. fujiii (FUJITA, 1931) FUJITA, 1927 (syns. Cystidicola f. F., 1921; Rhabdo nema jujii (F UJITA) of KO BAYASHI , 1935, 1936 ; Rhabdochona…
Morphology and taxonomy of Salvelinema species (Nematoda: Cystidicolidae), swimbladder parasites of Pacific area salmonids
TLDR
The morphology of two Salvelinema Trofimenko, 1962 species, S. salmonicola and S. walkeri, swimbladder nematodes of salmonids, proved to be morphologically very similar, differing substantially in the numbers and arrangements of egg filaments.
Salvelinema salmonicola (Nematoda, Cystidicolidae): heavy infection in lacustrine sockeye salmon Oncorhynchus nerka from northern Japan, with implication of the host's feeding habits.
TLDR
The present findings of S. salmonicola and J. jesoensis indicate that these salmon feed on benthic amphipods as well and get infected with the nematode.
Salvelinema salmonicola (Nematoda: Cystidicolidae) from lake-resident salmonids in western Honshu, Japan
TLDR
This is the first record of S. salmonicola from Yamaguchi Prefecture and brown trout in Japan, and also the third record of the species from lake-resident salmonids in Japan.

TLDR
Nematodes from the swimbladder of Oncorhynchus species are assigned to two genera: Cystidicola Fischer, 1798, and Salvelinema Trofimenko, 1962, while specimens of this genus from Alaska could not be specifically identified because of immaturity.
On the nematode genus Rhabdochona Railliet, 1916 (Nematoda : Spiruroidea).
TLDR
The systematic position of the genus Rhabdochona Railliet, 1916 and its diagnosis is reviewed and a new species, R. milleri, is described.
On the species of the genus Metabronema Yorke and Maplestone, 1926, parasitic in trout and char.
TLDR
The author is of the opinion that, on the basis of the characters of the postcloacal papillae and the spicules, the following species should be regarded as synonymous: Metabronema (= Spiroptera) salvelini Fujita, 1920, MetABronema harwoodi Chandler, 1931, and Metabronsema truttae Baylis, 1935.
THE SWIM BLADDER NEMATODES OF PACIFIC SALMONS (GENUS ONCORHYNCHUS)
TLDR
This chapter highlights the swim bladder nematodes of pacific salmons (genus Oncorhynchus ), which are indigenous to the North Pacific region and consists of six primarily anadromous species and one which lives entirely in fresh water.
DESCRIPTION OF METABRONEMA PREVOSTI SP. NOV. WITH A NOTE ON THE GENUS AND A LIST OF ITS SPECIES AND THEIR HOST AND GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION
TLDR
The systematic status of the genus Metabronema Yorke and Maplestone, 1926, in relation to other spirurid genera is reviewed briefly and a list of the species, their hosts, and geographical distribution is given.
The structure of the buccal region of Salvelinema Trofimenko, 1962 (Nematoda: Cystidicolinae).
TLDR
The buccal region of Salvelinema is described from material of S. salmonicola and S. walkeri from Pacific area salmonids, where the heavy cuticularization, the existence of two wel...
