Galactosyl beta-1,3-N-acetyl galactosamine (Gal beta-1,3-GalNAc) (Thomsen Friedenreich antigen), the Class I core sequence in O-linked oligosaccharide chains, behaves as an oncofetal antigen showing increased expression in many epithelial malignancies.
